Accessibility

Welcome

The American Museum & Gardens is constantly striving to be a fully accessible and inclusive destination for all visitors. We have worked with a number of other organisations, partners and friends to to ensure our team members have the understanding and knowledge they need to ensure they provide the very best welcome. We have also made and are making spaces inside and out as physically and mentally accessible for all visitors as we can.

We hope our Access Guide which can  be will provide a good starting point to help you plan your visit with us.

If you have any questions about an area of the Museum and Gardens which may not currently be featured please contact us and we’ll do our very best to help you.

As we re-open new areas of the Museum and Gardens we’ll be reviewing our Accessibility Guide in line with current government and best practice guidance during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tramper

This year we’ve teamed up with and are pleased to provide a Tramper, to make our gardens and outdoor spaces even more accessible.

As we only have one Tramper, you must book this in advance by calling 01225 460503 or emailing reception@maonzk.com during normal opening hours (10am – 4pm Tuesday to Sunday).
You might be able to use the Tramper without pre-booking but we cannot guarantee this.
We don’t charge for hiring the Tramper but you do have to sign up to the Countryside Mobility membership, £2.50 for 2 weeks or £10 for a year.
Card payment only at this time.

You can then use your membership at all other Countryside Mobility Tramper destinations.

We recommend that you read the medical and health information and terms and conditions of use in the Tramper hire information, before arriving as this will help you to assess whether you’ll be able to use the Tramper, and will save you time when registering for membership.
We would also recommend watching this

Please note this film is on YouTube. We are not responsible for any content that may appear or you find upsetting whilst using YouTube.

We will also be adhering to social distancing measures and increased cleaning of the Tramper so we do recommend wearing gloves and a face covering during hire.

Parking

Blue badge parking is in the main car park, 150 meters sloped walked to the Ticket Office.
At this time our Visitor Experience team is unable to drive a golf buggy around the site to help those with walking difficulties, due to social distancing measures.

If you would like to park closer to the gardens, please email or call us in advance.

Toilets

A wheelchair accessible toilet is located in the Gallery Shop.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome in our Gardens and Grounds, on a lead though please.

Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere on site.

If you need any more information about planning a visit please email reception@maonzk.com or get in touch via our contact form.
